2005 Chestnut AQHA Colt

Rare News - Demeter TB, Orchestration

Beautiful Rare News colt with a lot of class! From two race starters, his big Thoroughbred dam has produced one winner.

some family history          PEDIGREe

Rare Percussion is a big, very correct colt out of Thoroughbred mare Demeter and by Rare News (by First Down Dash).

"Drummer" December 30, 2005

Eight months of age

This tall colt is strong and sturdy with good legs, a nice slope to his shoulder and a well-made hip. Drummer grows more beautiful every day.

"Drummer" is very athletic and can really dig in when he takes off. He has a long, smooth, ground-eating stride. He is coordinated, quick, very smart — and a real sweetheart to work with. Drummer will be a big horse—probably over 16 hands.

Drummer is by the young First Down Dash sire Rare News, si 92 (Kindergarten Futurity finalist, Governor's Cup Futurity Finalist, two-time winner with earnings of $43,758). His dam, Demeter, has produced two Thoroughbred starters, one winner.

THIS GOOD LOOKING COLT loves to race around and around his paddock—practicing for a larger track someday! He is a sweetheart—very trusting and calm, very friendly — yet he has a strong sense of leadership about him.

Drummer is for sale for $3,000. He sells with a free 2006 breeding (to approved mare) to First Down Dash son Rare News, si 92.

This is a great opportunity to have a beautiful colt with a lot of running potential and a good mind. Contact Circle D for more information.

Eligibilities: Speedhorse Races, Speedhorse Barrel Races, Beehive, Bitterroot, Rocky Mountain Classic, Northern Plains Futurity, AQHRA Canada Quarter Horse Cup & Kansas Jackpot.

SOLD. Drummer will soon be going to Willcox, Arizona. He will begin training later in the year and race in 2007. Congratulations to his new owner!  4-13-06

POST SCRIPT. Drummer unexpectedly died from colic April 23, 2006 (one day before his first birthday), before he could leave for Arizona. He was a very nice colt with a bright future. His buyer was refunded his down-payment on this colt, but he, like us, remains saddened about this nice colt's untimely death. 5-6-06

Rare Percussion's dam's sire, Orchestration, was a winner of $18,459. He is sire to 33 starters, 11 winners of 48 races and earnings of $86,744, including October Music (2nd Princess Stakes), April Music (2nd Metco Matchmaker S.), Moralisa (3rd Autumn Leaves F.), Boom Town Bob, (7 wins, $22,549).

Orchestration's sire Petrone (by Prince Taj), earned $375,467 and was a winner in 6 of 25 starts, racing in France, Italy, England and America. At five years of age, Petrone won Hollywood's Sunset Handicap, in 3:18, a course record time and the fastest 2 miles ever in American racing.

Petrone (pictured above right) was a leading California sire in the 1990s. The Thoroughbred of California reports that Petrone was the only California-based stallion to have sired two millionaires. One of these millionaires is Brown Bess (Petrone - Chickadee, Windy Sands). Multiple stakes winner Brown Bess had an exciting record of 16 wins from 36 starts, with 8 seconds and 6 thirds. She earned $1,300,920 on the track from 5 to 8. She was 1989 California Champion and California Horse of the Year.
