March 3, 2009 Sorrel AQHA Colt

Rare News - Decup, Rare Form

His sire is Rare News, si 92, a multiple-graded stakes

performing son of All-Time Leading Sire First Down Dash.

His dam is a daughter of AQHA Racing Champion Rare Form, si 120,

from the family of the great stakes winner Baby Hold On, si 109, $418,373.

PEDIGREE          ELIGIBILITIES

Nothin But News (name pending with AQHA) is a nice big sorrel colt by Rare News out of Decup (by racing champion Rare Form). He has a nice blaze, a good set of hocks, strong legs and a lot of power in his pedigree. Within half an hour of his birth, this sturdy colt was up and at 'em.

Nothin But News (we call him "Leroy") is the pride and joy of his mama. Decup ("Baby") has had some hard luck with babies. Her first foal, a colt (4-years-ago) was born quite premature and couldn't stand and suck. We milked this patient mare and tubed the colt, but he didn't make it. Her 2nd foal, a filly (born 2-years-ago) had an aorta burst while being born. "Baby" was so depressed over losing that filly that she became very sick. It was almost too much for her to bear.

This big, strong colt by Rare News looks so healthy, so full of promise -- and his mama is the happiest mare on the planet! She adores her boy.

Nothin But News's dam, Decup, had three starts at two, and was in the money each of the three times with one second and two thirds. She earned $2,510 and a speed index of 80 before an injury in the gate on her fourth start ended her racing career.

His 2nd dam, Sixy Baby, is an unraced Streakin Six mare, out of Baby Hold On, si 109 (by Dash For Cash). She is a half-sister to How Special, si 104, $119,995. Sixy Baby is dam of 11 foals, 9 starters, 5 winners, and 8 ROM, including  Raise A Sixy, si 97, $30,240, 2002 Racing Northwest Hi-Point Aged Mare, Sixy Too, si 90, winner (dam of Sixy Bee, si 90, 5 wins, $37,672, Solano Derby, 2nd Wine Co., Derby, etc.).

Sixy Bee is also the dam of Pritzi Sixy, si 95, winner at 2, $11,701, finalist California Sires Cup Futurity-RG2. Pritzi Sixy is the dam of Rare Cut, si 101, $25,161, winner to 5, $5,340, in US, 2 wins at 3, $19,821 in Mexico, Mexican QHA Classic-RG3, 2nd Easily a Possum Derby-G3, etc., Sixy Fire, si 97, 2 wins to 5, 2008, $40,348; Pritzis Honor, si 101, 2 wins to 4, 2008, $33,867. Sixy Bee is the dam of Pritzi Too, si 91, 6 wins to 4, $29,693, etc.

Sixy Baby is dam of How Sixy, si 89, 8 wins to 5, $25,656, dam of Dignifly, si 94, 2 wins to 3, $15,665; Sixy Slew. si 89, placed, qualified G3, dam of Baldo Jazz, si 94, 4 wins to 4, 2008, $25,177; Kileys Dashing Cleat, si 93, 2 wins to 3, $19,349.

NOTHIN BUT NEWS's 3rd dam is the remarkable Baby Hold On, a 1978 multiple stakes winning mare whose track earnings totaled $418,373. She won the Alamo QHBA Futurity, Miss Peninsula Stakes, Jet Deck H., 2nd Dash For Cash Futurity, Kansas Futurity, Las Damas S., etc, Set NTR, 330 yards. Baby Hold On is a sister to Dashing Dalene, si 83 (dam of Heavenly Note, si 104, $67,436-G1; grandam of A Silver Goblin, si 105, to 4, $161,232-G2).

Baby Hold On, si 109, is dam to 13 foals, 9 performers, 9 ROM, 2 - 100+ ROM, 7 winners, 1 stakes winner, 2 stakes placers, whose earnings were $178,191. Her offspring include stakes winner How Special, si 104 (by Special Effort), $119,995, 1st La Primera Del Ano Derby, 2nd Golden State Derby, etc., Corona Countess, si 96 (by Count Corona), a stakes placed winner of $13,205, Dash Is Back, si 92 (by Late To Bed), stakes placed winner of $9,116, and many other accomplished horses.

NOTHIN BUT NEWS ("Leroy") is a colt who will have some size and speed. Leroy has a lot of promise as a racehorse, but if he's anything like his sire and dam, he will have the mind and athleticism to do just about anything that needs to be done.

ELIGIBILITIES: Nothin But News is eligible for Speedhorse Races, Speedhorse Barrel Races, Bitterroot, Beehive, Rocky Mountain Classic, Northern Plains Futurity, Kansas Jackpot, Iowa Double Gold, VGBRA Program.

NOTHIN BUT NEWS is offered for sale for $5,500. He will be ready to go when he's weaned this summer. A deposit now will hold him until then. Contact us with questions or for more information.

SOLD HERE 4-25-09. Nothin But News is headed to a new home in Tranquility, California, once he is weaned. He will be prepared to be a racehorse. Congratulations to his new owner!

Rare News, si 92, by All-Time Leading Sire First Down Dash out of Shiney Miles, si 94 (by Magical Mile TB).

Rare News is a horse with lots of body, beauty and intelligence. This powerful, thick-boned horse was a multiple graded stakes performer at Los Alamitos. He had two wins and was three times 2nd. Rare News was a finalist in the Kindergarten Futurity-G1 (placed 5th), Governor's Cup Futurity-G1, and MBNA America California Challenge Championship-G2. Rare News was also a finalist in the PCQHRA Handicap and the San Diego Handicap. He earned $43,758 on the track. Rare News defeated the likes of many racing greats, such as 2005 Champion Aged Mare Mini Rock, si 102 ($439,979)!

WITH A SMALL 3RD CROP that went to the track in 2009, Rare News is the sire of 16 starters, 15 money earners, 11 ROM. 8 winners, 7 stakes finalists, 1 two-time stakes winner, 1 twice stakes-placed horse and the 2009 Horse of the Year at North Dakota Horse Park!

Rare News has a wonderful, kind disposition. He is a beautiful stallion, calm and easy to handle. He has a very good mind. His conformation is practically flawless. He is an exceptionally handsome individual with excellent bone, strong feet, and a lot of muscle and body. Rare News's pedigree rivals that of any of the top speed-bred stallions today. His is a strong foundation pedigree of champion sires and stakes producers.

Rare News has all that it takes to sire beautiful, correct, good-minded, fast foals. He is a stallion of substance and rare quality.
