 The sire of
A Terra Chick
and Gotatickettowin is the kind of horse legends are made
of.
Chicks Beduino, si 104, by
Beduino TB and out of A Classy Chick, si 89, by
Chick's Deck, si 92,
was a champion race horse and is champion sire. He was euthanized in September 2003, at the age of 19, due to kidney failure.
Chicks Beduino earned $412,099 on the track at 2 and 3 years of age, with a record of 14-7-2-1.
He won seven stakes races (including the
Bay Meadows Futurity, Governor's Cup
Futurity, and Dash For Cash Futurity, etc.).
from 13 crops to race
through 2006 chicks Beduino
has sired
winners of more than $32.9 million. In
2000, Chicks Beduino led the America's Horse list of sires of the century based
on the number of registered progeny, and as of 2006, he was third on the list of
all-time sires by money earned and second o n the list of leading sires by race
winners. For years to come Quarter Horse races around the country will be have Chicks Beduino sons and daughters in the starting gates, and race programs and pedigrees will show the name
Chicks Beduino as broodmare's sire or sire's sire.
He is sire of
136 stakes winners and 8 Champions.
Included among his offspring: World Champion Whosleavingwho, si 105 ($1,012,074),
Three-Time Champion Separatist, si 101 ($889,044), Champion
Corona Chick,
si 113 ($591,326), and Champion This Snow is Royal, si 101 ($554,748). Other speed standouts include Artesias Specialchic
and Champion Country Chicks Man.
Chicks Beduino
is 2007's #1 Leading Broodmare Sire.
Chicks Beduino
has dominated the
winners and earners lists for several years.
Though he is deceased, there will be foal crops by Chicks Beduino for years to
come, too. His frozen semen is available for purchase.
The great Chicks Beduino was owned by Joe and Rory Muniz and John Bobenrieth. He had been standing at the Blane Schvaneveldt Ranch,
in California. His 2003 fee was $10,000.

CHICKS
BEDUINO MOVES UP
Norman, OK --
The late Chicks Beduino is still active on the lists, with his name
showing up as the winning sire in races at several different tracks, all
the way from southern California to Canada and points in-between. On June
26, California Champions Night at Los Alamitos, his offspring scored
enough wins to move him to third on the All-Time Leading Sire of Money
Earners list, passing the great Easy Jet and putting Chic ks Beduino behind
only First Down Dash and Dash For Cash. Chicks Beduino's total earnings
are $26,422,594. There were 13 races on the June 26 card, including the
claiming stakes, and Chicks Beduino sons and daughters claimed more than
$215,000 of the total. He was also represented by broodmares as well as by
sires who are his sons. For 2004, Chicks Beduino is a close second to
First Down Dash on the Sires of Money Earners list. First Down Dash
offspring have accumulated $1,373,574 while Chicks Beduino tallies
$1,302,346.

The dam
of Chicks Beduino, si 104, did not repay her $12,500 claiming price on
the track, but she more than made up for it as a broodmare.
|

The dam of
Chicks Beduino, A Classy Chick. |
A Classy Chick, si 89 (by
Chick's Deck), was consigned to the 1979 All American Yearling Sale by Don
Keith and trainer Don Farris. Dr. Ed Allred purchased her for $11,000. A
Classy Chick broke her maiden in her first start as a two-year-old in May, but
she did not reappear again until December. She was unsuccessful in three
starts against allowance company at Los Alamitos, and Dr. Allred finally put
her in a claimer.
John Bobenrieth Jr and Joe Muniz
claimed the mare, thinking she would be a good broodmare. They first took her
to Dixie Downs for another chance on the track, but when A Classy Chick tried
to jump a puddle on a muddy track, she ended up with a slab fracture in her
knee. Her racing career was over.
She was bred first to Timeto
Thinkrich, then the following year to Beduino TB. The Beduino colt was Chicks
Beduino. A Classy Chick was plagued by lingering complications from her injury
and had to be put down in 1985, when Chicks Beduino was a yearling.
What an incredible posterity
that mare with a humble race record now has!
