 A NEWS STREAK,
si 99,
is a correct, muscle-packed sorrel 2005 gelding by Rare News,
si 92, out of A Lil Streakin Jewel, si 99 (by
Streakin Jewel, si 108).
He is a beautiful
horse with strands of flaxen, blonde and gray hair in
his mane and tail and a wide blaze. He stands just a little over 15
hands right now.
A NEWS
STREAK ("Junior") is a
muscular horse with a
wonderful, willing disposition and a lot of intelligence. He has a big
hip, well-developed shoulder and good bone. Like his sire, Junior has a huge forearm and gaskin. He also has a
good mind and a kind eye. He is a calm, friendly, easy-going horse. In
training he is showing a lot of spirit -- along with gate speed, running speed, determination and athleticism.
He is always professional and makes few mistakes.
HIS dam,
A Lil
Streakin Jewel, si 99, by
Streakin Jewel,
is stakes placed winner. From 10 starts at 2 and 3, she had a record
of
2-3-1. She was 2nd in the Great Falls HRA Futurity. She is a very nice mare in build and
disposition. A News
Streak is her 2nd foal. (A Lil Streakin Jewel
has a 2007 full-sibling to
A News Streak and is bred back to Rare News for a 2008 foal.)
JUNIOR'S Second dam
A Lil Cash, si 101 (by Better Judgement), is a 9-time winner with earnings of $15,227. She placed 2nd in the American-Canadian Derby and 2nd in the Charlie Russell
Derby.

This very nice
gelding just completed his 2-year-old racing year. A News Streak ended
his first year with
a record of 1 win and 3 seconds from 8 starts and
a speed index of 99. He was a finalist in three stakes races, finishing 4th in
the Ford Northwest Juvenile
Challenge-G3. A
News Streak earned $8,622 for his hard work. He finished
the season in good health and
100%
sound. He was trained by Brent
Bowman.
He
is now home for some down time --
time to put some weight on and rest and relax
a while.
A NEWS STREAK is co-owned by Michael & Teri
Dinnell and Roberta
Archer.
(His
dam
and second dam ran for Roberta and her late husband, long-time racehorse
trainers in Montana.)
Long-term
plans for A News Streak are undecided. If we can do so, we would like to
race him again in 2008, knowing his physical and mental growth will do him well
at three. There is a possibility he will be sold (if you are interested in
purchasing A News Streak, please contact us).
A News
Streak has great potential on the
track, as a barrel horse, or for just about anything. He is exceptionally
intelligent and professional, a very kind, willing horse with great beauty and
lots of heart.

Dinnell ride A News Streak, Oct. 27, 2007.

is headed to the Tremonton, Utah area where he will do some racing this year &
be trained for chariot racing in the future. Good luck to "Junior" & his new
owners! 1-8-08.

A
NEWS STREAK FINISHES 4TH
IN THE FORD NORTHWEST JUVENILE CHALLENGE

Boise, ID, June 30, 2007A
NEWS STREAK failed in his first attempt to get earn some blacktype
(horses finishing in the first three positions in stakes races earn
"blacktype") in the Ford Northwest Juvenile Challenge, at Les Bois Park,
in Boise, on June 30, 2007. He came in 4th in the 350 yard race
with a time of :17.668 (and a speed index of 98).
Finishing first in the Ford Northwest
Juvenile Challenge was the outstanding Special Leader gelding,
Gomez Palacio
(owned and bred by Robert W. Gutke, of Smithfield, Utah), in :17.433
seconds (speed index 104). Gomez Palacio was also the fastest qualifier
to the race. Coming in 2nd was the Stoli filly Hannahs Halo, and
3rd place finisher was Showem And Shake Em (a gelding by Royal
Shake Em). A News Streak, 4th place, was followed by Proudestchick (by
Proudest Effort), Oso Gone (by Panther Mountain), Cee Me Shake (by Royal
Shake Em), and Rum Running Okey (by Okey Dokey Dale).
A News Streak, by
Rare News, was ridden by jockey Roy Badillez, who said after the
race that when A News Streak got pinched in behind the three fastest
finishers (running
in a V-formation), A News Streak strained and fought
with
everything
he had to get through. The jockey even had to pull him back a little to
keep him from going over the top of one of the horses in an effort to
get ahead. The jockey told trainer Brent Bowman that A News Streak was
one of the "gutsiest horses" he has ever ridden.
A News Streak has a record of 1-1-0 from 4
starts. His highest speed index is 99, he is a stakes qualifier with
earnings of $6,061. He came back sound from his race and will continue
his pursuit of blacktype!

FOR FORD NORTHWEST
JUVENILE CHALLENGE FUTURITY!
Boise,
ID, June 15, 2007A News Streak, by Rare News
became the 5th fastest qualifier for the Ford Northwest Juvenile Challenge
Futurity on June 15, when he ran 350 yards in :17.623 (and earned a speed index
of 99).
Approximately 70 well-bred 2-year-old Quarter
Horses from several states competed in 7 trials, each vying for one of the ten
coveted spots. A News Streak, ridden by Brian Long, broke fast, then veered out
a little, then straightened out and quickly gained the lead. He was well ahead
of everyone, until Oso Gone, a nice Panther Mountain filly, came on strongly
from the outside and outran him by less than a neck. Nevertheless, his time was
still fast enough to grant him a place in the June 30 Challenge Futurity.
A News Streak, a very calm, professional,
consistent sorrel gelding, is trained by Brent Bowman. Brian Long is his jockey. He is owned by Michael and Teri Dinnell
and Roberta Archer. From three starts, A News Streak has one first, one
second and was once fourth. His speed index is now 99.

Film finish strip from the 4th

A NEWS STREAK GETS FIRST WIN!
Boise, ID, May 28, 2007Literally
the first son of Rare News, A News Streak, became
Rare News's first race winner on Memorial Day. He also finished ahead of sons of
two leading AQHA sires, Stoli and Check Him Out.
A News Streak, a gelding out of
A Lil Streakin Jewel, stumbled a bit
coming out of the gates in a maiden race at Les Bois Park, but quickly flew to
first position. Then, finding himself in the lead, he seemed to hesitate --
until a son of champion Stoli came at him. A News Streak kicked it into gear again and
drove to the finish line, finishing first with a speed index of 88 (300 yards in
.15:831).
Coming in 2nd was Night Time Stoli (Stoli - Night
Lines by Strawfly Special), and 3rd LP Check This Effort (Check Him Out -
Fishers Effort by Fishers Dash).
A News Streak is trained by Brent Bowman and was
ridden by Brian Long. For those who gambled on this handsome horse, he paid
$16.60 to win.
From just 2 sons on the track so far (with only 3
starts between them), freshman sire Rare News has 1 race winner, 1 third place
horse & he's a 100% ROM sire!

Racing
Update: A News Streak ("Junior") had his first out in Bitterroot Futurity trials,
May 12, in Boise, Idaho. At the beginning of the race, a fractious horse came out of the gates and nearly totaled A
News Streak. A News Streak was shoved over two lanes and his legs were nearly
taken out. The hit didn't total him mentally, however. It only fired
him up! A News Streak was angry, pinned back his ears, and in the seconds
remaining just f lew trying to make up the distance. He finished in 4th place, just a nose behind 3rd place. His speed index a 79,
going 350 yards in 18.332 seconds. He had a cut
and some soreness, but is back in top shape and ready to go again. Bad
experience for a first race -- but he came back strong and showed heart
and determination.
It was disappointing when he failed to qualify for
the futurity, but we are pleased with the class and mental strength he
demonstrated in his first
racing effort. A News Streak is scheduled to run again sometime around Memorial
Day weekend.
